Not a hostel.
Not a hotel.
Something better.

Low Cortisol Social Club is a curated coliving experience in authentic Ayvalık — where we rent local families' summer homes during the off-season and fill them with the right people, the right rhythm, and the right environment to actually live well while working remotely.

🏡
Real homes, not rooms

We partner with local Ayvalık families who leave their summer homes empty from October to May. Their beautiful, authentic homes become our guests' homes — with Mediterranean tile, olive wood furniture, sea views, and the smell of the Aegean through every window.

🧠
Low cortisol by design

No notifications during sunset. No hustle culture allowed. The programme is designed around morning calm, focused work hours, long afternoon breaks, and evenings that make you forget what day it is. Your nervous system will thank you within a week.

🌊
Genuinely Aegean

Ayvalık isn't a resort town. It's where Turkish families with Greek roots have been fishing, pressing olives, and drinking raki since forever. You'll eat at places that don't have Instagram pages and buy vegetables from people whose names you'll remember.

🤝
Community that means something

Small groups — maximum 5–6 people per house. Intentionally chosen. Long enough stays to actually connect. Weekly dinners, shared experiences, and the kind of friendships that form when you're all genuinely present, not performing for an algorithm.

"Ayvalık has the bones of an ancient Greek port town, the soul of a Turkish fishing village, and the light that painters have chased for centuries. It is, very simply, one of the most beautiful places we've ever lived."

— The Founders

Apply for your month

We keep groups small and intentional. Every applicant goes through a brief form and a quick call with one of the founders. We're not gatekeeping — we're curating.

We respond to all applications within 48 hours. A brief 15-minute call follows to make sure it's the right fit — both ways.

Things people ask us

Do I need a Turkish visa?
Most EU/UK/US/Canadian passport holders get a 90-day tourist visa on arrival or via e-visa. This covers a full month with ease. For longer stays, we'll advise on options during your call with the founders.
Is the internet good enough for remote work?
Yes. We install fiber internet in every house (50–100 Mbps). We also provide a backup 4G solution and can help you get a local SIM with data. Never worry about connection quality.
What is the community like?
Small, intentional, international. Most guests are 28–42, working remotely in creative, tech, or business fields. We keep groups to 4–6 people per house. Long-enough stays to form real friendships, not surface-level "nomad talk."
Can I stay longer than a month?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Stays of 2–5 months are our sweet spot. We offer a discount for bookings of 3 months or more. Many guests who come for one month end up staying for three.
What does "community meals" mean exactly?
Once a week we share a meal together — sometimes we cook (Aegean recipes, Mediterranean inspiration), sometimes we go to a local restaurant together. No obligation, but most people love it. It's the heartbeat of the community.
Is Ayvalık safe and accessible for solo travellers?
Ayvalık is one of the safest and most welcoming towns in Turkey. It's walkable, English is spoken in most places you'd visit, and our local expertise (Can has summered here his whole life) means you're never navigating alone.
What if I don't get on with the other guests?
The application + call process is specifically designed to prevent this. We curate for cultural fit, not just professional background. In 3+ years of founders living in shared spaces, we've learned exactly what makes or breaks a community.
What's included in the price vs optional extras?
Your membership covers accommodation, coworking, wifi, communal spaces, and the weekly community dinner. Activities are mostly optional add-ons priced separately (except where your tier includes them). Full breakdown in the pricing section.
